Purspective shares best practice of lean value creation at Procurecon in Geneva (November 5-6th, 2008)
After successful contribution to the 10th Procurecon conference in Bruxelles last year, Purspective will present another best practice this year. Where last year the focus was on best practices in the area of Supplier Relationship Management, this year will focus on lean value creation through a wave of Category Strategy Development workshops.
In this unique example, the objective were short term and very concrete in terms of cost savings targets. In short, the option for achieving these objectives were bringing external resources in to help deliver this project or relying more on internal resources. In this case the combination of external facilitation of the key step in this savings project, the category strategy development workshop (CSD), coaching for the implementation work but keeping the project in the hands of internal resources.
With a clear governance structure in place and under strong leadership from the Head of Purchasing, the wave of CSDs approach delivered targetted value and kept throughput times for this project (and related costs) clearly defined and under control.
This project has meant a very close collaboration with our client to ensure that the required preparation and cross-functional workshops could be planned, prepared and delivered over a 6 months timespan. Intermediate coaching sesssions focused on identifying and developing solutions for implementation challenges and ensuring maximum stakeholder involvement.
Procurecon is the leading annual procurement conference and brings together senior figures across major industries and delivers cutting edge strategies and case studies along with the opportunity to network and benchmark with peers.
